creatives are unrealistic
Creatives are unrealistic. A broad statement, I know, but I'm going to stand by it. They are unrealistic because they reject living in reality. They see adventures, possibilities, and stories behind every word, detail, and image.
They dream of meeting a stranger in a cafe and finding their soulmate. On the underground, they sit on the edge of their seat waiting for something to turn sour, so they can step in and be the hero. When they swim at sea, they don't think of returning to land.
An opportunity turns into a whole life in their heads. If it's lost, so is the imagined life. They find themselves mourning the chance that was never promised, along with the romance & adventures which built around it. To them, it's a heavy loss. To others, it's on to the next one.
The reason I point this out is not to make you think all creatives are nuts. We are, but that's not the point. It's to highlight that creativity isn't simply a job. It's emotional. It's a lifestyle.
I think people are more creative than this modern world allows sometimes. It's why we connect so much with fantasy tales. It's why superheroes & ice queens have become so successful. It's pure escapism. It's that childhood imagination resurfacing one book, film & play at a time.
There is very little mystery out there anymore. If you have a question, it's not hard to find the answer. Whilst that knowledge is power, I sometimes find it makes me less curious. Does that make sense?
There is so much power in creativity. It is a wonderful thing to dream. It moves the world forward. It's how we got electricity, phones, airplanes, transplants, vaccines & Harry Potter. I guess what I'm saying is allow yourself to pursue your passions. Allow yourself to take risks. Be a romantic. A Dreamer. An Explorer. An Inventor. An Artist. Be yourself.
